US: Most in-demand TV and film for May 16-31, 2023

Succession, Air and the UEFA Champions League are the most in-demand titles in the US for the last half of May. The chart below comes from YouGov Signal, a social listening tool that tracks the performance of TV programs, movies and brands. Appetite Score is a value from 0-100 that measures the demand for given titles by combining web searches and Wikipedia lookups. Here are the ones with the highest peak Appetite Scores among US audiences in the past two weeks:

Succession’s much-talked about finale helped the series climb seven spots on the list to become the most in-demand title in the US for the last half of May. The UEFA Champions League climbed two spots to number 3. Look for appetite for this title to grow even more as data around the June 10 final emerges.

Uplifting marketing drama AIR is new to the charts, coming in at number two. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reunite to tell the story of Nike’s Air Jordan trainers. The film was released theatrically on April 5 and then via streaming on Amazon Prime Video on May 12. It’s the only Amazon production on the list for this period.

Apple TV’s Ted Lasso was one of the most-streamed TV shows in March and April. YouGov Signal indicates that demand is still strong for the feel-nice Yankee-in-Europe comedy. The show is the fourth most in-demand for the last half of May.

The first season of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new comedy-action series FUBAR was released on May 25, but this was long enough for it to enter the top ten most-in-demand titles list at number five. The Netflix production follows the dysfunctional adventures of father and daughter CIA officers.
