UK: Most in-demand TV and film for May 16-31, 2023

The UEFA Champions League, Succession and Game of Thrones are the most in-demand titles in the UK for the last half of May. The chart below comes from YouGov Signal, a social listening tool that tracks the performance of TV programs, movies and brands. Appetite Score is a value from 0 to 100 that measures the demand for given titles by combining web searches and Wikipedia lookups. Here are the ones with the highest peak Appetite Scores among British audiences in the past two weeks:

The UEFA Champions League’s position as the most in-demand title in Britain remains unchanged since March.

Succession’s much-talked about finale helped propel the series to second place from eighth last fortnight. Also airing on Sky Atlantic, Game of Thrones climbed four spots to third place in the last half of May. The epic fantasy has fans talking about it all over again. There’s also buzz around the newly announced prequel A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight and an upcoming second season of House of the Dragon. The new prequel, set a century before GoT, follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his diminutive squire Egg.

Uplifting marketing drama AIR is new to the charts. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reunite to tell the story of Nike’s Air Jordan trainers. The film was released theatrically on April 5 and then via streaming on Amazon Prime Video on May 12. It’s the only Amazon production on the list for this period.

The first season of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new comedy-action series FUBAR was released on May 25, but this was long enough for it to enter the top ten most-in-demand titles list at number eight. The Netflix production follows the dysfunctional adventures of father and daughter CIA officers.
