58% Americans are interested in Hollywood studio tours, but ticket price is key
New data from YouGov Surveys: Self-serve shows that 58% of Americans are interested in visiting a Hollywood studio tour in the next 12 months. Men seem slightly more inclined, with 60% expressing interest compared to 55% of women. When looking at generations, younger adults are more likely to be interested. Gen Z stands out the most, with 74% saying they would be interested in a studio tour, followed closely by Millennials at 68%. Interest among Gen X is closer to the average at 58%, while Baby Boomers show the least enthusiasm, with only 43% expressing interest.
When deciding whether to book a Hollywood studio tour, the top factor for 6 in 10 people is ticket price, with 63% considering it important. The chance to see live filming is also a significant draw for 59% of Americans. Location and convenience, as well as special behind-the-scenes access, are equally important to 55% of US adults. Guided tours matter to 44%, and 42% consider the tour's duration when making their decision. Other factors, like the studio's popularity and family-friendly activities, are considered important by 32% and 29% respectively.
As for reasons people would consider going on a Hollywood studio tour, 7 in 10 are driven by the chance to experience the behind-the-scenes aspects of movie production (71%). For 66%, it’s about having a unique entertainment experience, and 63% are motivated by the opportunity to see famous filming locations.
Learning about the history of the entertainment industry appeals to 59% of respondents. However, only 11% of people say they would consider going because someone else is interested, indicating that most people make the decision for their own enjoyment.
Methodology: YouGov polled 1000 US adults online on October 16, 2024. The survey was carried out through YouGov Surveys: Self-serve. Data is weighted by age, gender, race, political affiliation, education level and region. The margin of error is 3% for the overall sample.
