Travel Advertiser of the Month: Jet2holidays (UK)

Jet2holidays registered the highest uptick in Advertising Awareness over the course of the first month of the new year, according YouGov’s latest analysis of advertising performance in the travel category.

Every month, YouGov looks at the brands showing the most improvement in advertising penetration and Jet2holidays nearly doubled its Ad Awareness from 13% to 25% between the end of December 2021 and January 2022.

According to the travel company’s chief executive, Seve Heapy, the brand recently saw a sharp increase in visits to its websites after the government announced new changes to travel policies earlier this month, including removing pre-departure PCR test requirements for fully vaccinated passengers travelling into England.

The tourism operator also announced a flash sale in January almost immediately after news of eased restrictions broke. The promotion ran across package holidays booked through independent travel agents.

Jet2holidays also recently designed a billboard in partnership with an independent travel agent in Cheshire. The move reflects the travel industry’s optimism for a rebound in consumer confidence, especially with people venturing out in public in greater numbers to notice out-of-home advertising and rising demand to book a holiday.

Methodology: YouGov BrandIndex collects data on thousands of brands every day. Regarding our Ad Awareness metric, consumers are asked,” Which of the following consumer brands have you seen an advertisement for in the past two weeks?“. Ad Awareness is delivered as a percentage and based on the interviews of British adults aged 18 and over surveyed between December 27, 2021 and January 25, 2022. Learn more about BrandIndex.
