The Idol, Titanic and Black Mirror are the most in-demand titles in the US for the last half of June. The chart below comes from YouGov Signal, a social listening tool that tracks the performance of TV programs, movies and brands. Appetite Score is a value from 0-100 that measures the demand for given titles by combining web searches and Wikipedia lookups. Here are the ones with the highest peak Appetite Scores among US audiences in the past two weeks:

Controversial HBO drama The Idol is the most in-demand title in America in the last half of June. It’s also the only title that is completely new in the sense that it’s in its first season and is not related to any other movies or series.

While critics and the public have a lot of negative things to say about the show, they’re certainly talking about it. Analysis of online discourse indicates that a lot of Americans are “hate-watching” the show and, while they may be disgusted, they’re also disappointed it’s ending after a mere five episodes.

The runner-up is the 1997 James Cameron blockbuster Titanic. The resurgence in interest in the classic movie is likely related to the loss of the Titan submersible during a planned visit to the site of the sunken ship.

Charlie Brooker’s tech-dystopian Black Mirror released its sixth season on June 15, which has made it the third most in-demand title for the second half of June. This puts it just ahead of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts which was the top title for the first half of June.

Hulu’s sole entry on this month top ten chart is The Bear, which follows a young chef from the fine-dining world who comes home to run his family’s sandwich shop. The second season of the series, was released on June 22.
