GB: Sainsbury’s vacuum-packs beef mince range - What do people think of eco-friendly measures?
Sainsbury’s will now offer its beef mince range in revamped packaging, in a step that the retailer claims will save 55% of plastic per product and 450 tonnes of plastic annually. Instead of tray packaging, the British supermarket chain will vacuum pack its beef mince range and help preserve the product’s freshness for longer. The move is in line with the company’s commitment to halve its own-brand plastic packaging by 2025.
What do Sainsbury’s customers think about brands’ environment-conscious efforts?
According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - 35% of Sainsbury’s current shoppers agree with the statement that they “try to buy only from companies who are socially and environmentally responsible.” A similar proportion of the general British population also agrees with the statement.
A slightly higher proportion, 39%, of Sainsbury’s customers (and 36% of the general British population) disagree with the statement that they “try to buy only from companies who are socially and environmentally responsible.”
