UK: Most in-demand TV and film for October 1-15, 2023
Beckham, UEFA Champions League and Sex Education are the most in-demand titles in the UK for the first half of October 2023. The chart below comes from YouGov Signal, a social listening tool that tracks the performance of TV programs, movies and brands. Appetite Score is a value from 0-100 that measures the demand for given titles by combining web searches and Wikipedia lookups. Here are the ones with the highest peak Appetite Scores among UK audiences in the past two weeks:
Beckham joins the UEFA Champions League at the top of the in-demand chart this fortnight. The Netflix documentary follows the London-born footballer’s career and his relationship to wife Victoria Beckham (née Adams). The series, which examines the effects of celebrity and fame, is also a nostalgic stroll through the 90’s, when the couple was under closest watch by the media. In other football-based media, Champions League group stage matches, keep the tournament at the number two spot on this list.
Puberty comedy-drama Sex Education retains the number three spot with an Appetite Score of 99.21. The release of the fourth series on September 21 continues to follow British teens as they navigate the awkward and intimate challenges of adolescence.
Gen V is new to the chart. A superhero spinoff of The Boys, the series has followed a hybrid release strategy. It premiered three episodes on September 29, followed by weekly episode releases. This generated enough to earn an Appetite Score of 99.08, making it the fourth most in-demand title for October 1-15. College drama meets superhero tale meets battle royal-horror in this story of young “supes” attending the maybe-evil Godolkin University School of Crimefighting.
Sci-fi horror film No One Will Save You is the most in-demand feature film on the list this period. Released by Hulu, the movie only has five words of dialogue in its entire runtime but that’s enough to keep audiences of this horror pic thrilled.
