UK: Most in-demand TV and film for September 16-30, 2023
The UEFA Champions League, Top Boy and Sex Education are the most in-demand titles in the UK for the second half of September 2023. The chart below comes from YouGov Signal, a social listening tool that tracks the performance of TV programs, movies and brands. Appetite Score is a value from 0-100 that measures the demand for given titles by combining web searches and Wikipedia lookups. Here are the ones with the highest peak Appetite Scores among UK audiences in the past two weeks:
The UEFA Champions League remains the most in-demand title in the UK for the second half of September, while the Europa League, currently in group stage matches, has dropped three spots to number five. Top Boy is the second most in-demand title for September 16-30, maintaining online interest with the release of Series Five on September 7.
The fourth and final series of British-made Sex Education, which follows teens as they contend with intimacy-related dilemmas, was released on 21 September 2023. Buzz surrounding the new release helped give the comedy the third highest appetite score in the UK.
While the final season aired in 2022, crime series Peaky Blinders is back on Britons’ minds. The program’s 99.02 appetite score may be related to an Instagram post by creator Steven Knight. On the tenth anniversary of the show premier, Knight wrote “the story is not yet over. Watch this space.” The message led to speculation about possible spin-off or sequels.
