UK: Most in-demand TV and film for June 16-30, 2023
UEFA Champions League, The Idol and Titanic are the most in-demand titles in the UK for the last half of June. The chart below comes from YouGov Signal, a social listening tool that tracks the performance of TV programs, movies and brands. Appetite Score is a value from 0-100 that measures the demand for given titles by combining web searches and Wikipedia lookups. Here are the ones with the highest peak Appetite Scores among UK audiences in the past two weeks:
Even after the June 10 final, UEFA Champions League remains the most in-demand title in Britain for the last half of June.
Controversial HBO drama The Idol is runner-up. While critics and the public have a lot of negative things to say about the show, they’re certainly talking about it. Analysis of online discourse indicates that many are “hate-watching” the show and, while they may be disgusted, they’re also disappointed it’s ending after a mere five episodes.
James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster Titanic has also surfaced at number three with an Appetite Score of 99.34. The resurgence in interest in the classic movie is likely related to the loss of the Titan submersible during a planned visit to the site of the sunken ship.
Charlie Brooker’s tech-dystopian Black Mirror released its sixth season on June 15, which has made it the fourth most in-demand title for the second half of June. This puts it just ahead of American thriller Extraction 2.
The only theatrical list on the top ten most in-demand chart for June 16-30 is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts which has fallen one spot to number seven.
