APAC Biggest Brand Movers - July 2024
APAC Biggest Brand Movers highlights the ten brands that have registered the most statistically significant month-on-month upticks in consumer perception metrics across a selection of Asia-Pacific markets. These rankings identify the brands which have logged the greatest number of improvements across 13 metrics each month – ranging from aided brand awareness and corporate reputation, to purchase consideration and customer satisfaction. The data is taken from YouGov BrandIndex, a syndicated brand tracker which continuously collects data on thousands of brands around the globe every day.
Australia: TikTok claims top position
TikTok is Australia’s Biggest Brand Mover for July.
The social media platform made gains in six out of 13 BrandIndex metrics.
TikTok grew in one Media and Communication metric (Buzz), two Band Perception metrics (Value and Quality) and three Purchase Funnel metrics (Quality, Consideration, Purchase Intent and Current Customer).
Notably, the Australian government revealed that it has no plans to force TikTok’s parent company to sell the app, unlike the US government.
At a close second, financial technology company Afterpay gained in six BrandIndex metrics as well, half of them being brand perception metrics (Corporate Reputation, Recommendation and Quality). The other metrics the company - known for its buy now, pay later service - made gains in include Buzz, Purchase Intent and Current Customer.
Other brands in the top five are a mixed bag of health supplements company Blackmores, social media brand Pinterest and insurance company Budget Direct all grew in five BrandIndex metrics.
Singapore: Samsung S a clear winner
Samsung S registers a near-clean sweep with upticks in all but one BrandIndex metrics to claim the Biggest Brand Mover title in Singapore for July.

The brand made improvements in Current Customer, Purchase Intent, Consideration, Quality, Recommendation, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Reputation, Value, General Impression, Buzz, Word of Mouth (WOM) Exposure and Ad Awareness.
The only metric the brand did not make improvements in belongs to the Media and Communication metrics bundle - Aided Brand Awareness.
Pizza Hut follows Samsung with upticks in seven out of 13 metrics, most of them being brand perception metrics. Netflix, Decathlon and Trip.com made improvements in six metrics each.
Thailand: Government Savings Bank surges to top spot in July
State-owned Thai bank is the region’s Biggest Brand Mover in July.
Government Savings Bank gained in seven out of 13 BrandIndex metrics - five Brand Perception metrics (General Impression, Value, Customer Satisfaction, Recommendation and Quality) and two Purchase Funnel metrics (Consideration and Current Customer). The brand however draws a null from the Media and Communication metrics group.
Starbucks follows at a close second with improvements in five metrics, most of them being Brand Perception metrics (Value, Corporate Reputation and Recommendation). The other metrics include Buzz, Consideration and Purchase Intent.
Other brands in our top five list of brand movers in Thailand for July include Agoda (five metrics), Nok Air (five metrics) and Australia’s Biggest Brand Mover, TikTok (four metrics).

Methodology
Biggest Brand Movers for July 2024 ranked brands according to the number of statistically significant score increases they achieved across the following BrandIndex metrics, between June and July 2024.
Media and Communication Metrics
- Aided Brand Awareness – Whether or not a consumer has ever heard of a brand
- Ad Awareness – Whether a consumer has seen or heard an advertisement for a brand in the past two weeks
- Word of Mouth Exposure – Whether a consumer has talked about a brand with family or friends in the past two weeks
- Buzz – Whether a consumer has heard anything positive or negative about a brand in the past two weeks (net score)
Brand Perception Metrics
- General Impression – Whether a consumer has a positive or negative impression of a brand
- Customer Satisfaction – Whether a consumer is currently a satisfied or dissatisfied customer of a particular brand
- Quality – Whether a consumer considers a brand to represent good or poor quality
- Value – Whether a consumer considers a brand to represent good or poor value for money
- Recommendation – Whether a consumer would recommend a brand to a friend or colleague or not
- Corporate Reputation – Whether a consumer would be proud or embarrassed to work for a particular brand
Purchase Funnel Metrics
- Consideration – Whether a consumer would consider a brand or not the next time they are in the market for a particular product
- Purchase Intent – Whether a consumer would be most likely or unlikely to purchase a specific product
- Current Customer – Whether a consumer has purchased a given product or not within a specified period of time
