Key Findings Include:
- Online search rates within the US for Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s Disease have increased between 2021-2024.
- Majority of online comments surrounding Parkinson’s Disease stems from individuals who have family members or friends suffering from the conditions, with “Dad”, “Mom”, “Husband”, and “Wife” consistently ranking in the top keywords surrounding the disease since 2021.
- A notable share of commenters who mention their husband or wife having Parkinson’s Disease also mention having health problems themselves - most notably, cancer.
- Online comments indicate that families with a history of Parkinson’s Disease may also have frequent occurrences of dementia, addiction, mental illnesses such as bipolar, and autism within their families. Comments also indicate that these conditions may frequently occur alongside or preceding a Parkinson’s diagnosis.
- Frequent mentions of knowing a significant number of people who have developed Parkinson’s, cancer, or rheumatoid arthritis - indicative of possible geographic clusters.
