AI app appeal among Britons – Who’s interested?
A recent YouGov survey asked 2,005 GB adults about their interest in certain types of AI apps. One in five Britons are interested in apps that generate images from text (22%). A quarter would like to use AI for budgeting assistance (24%) and personalized workout plans (23%) while 15% are interested in AI for creating new music compositions.
Men show a stronger inclination towards AI-enabled apps than women. For example, 31% of men are interested in using AI apps for image creation from text prompts in comparison to only14% of women. This gap extends to new music composition with AI, where 22% of men are interested compared to just 9% of women. The trend continues for AI apps for budgeting assistance and personalized workout plans as well.
Turning our attention to age demographics, the enthusiasm for AI apps is highly age dependent. The youngest adult cohort, those aged 18-24, display the highest interest levels across all AI app categories. Almost four in 10 are keen on the idea of AI creating images from text prompts (38%), and nearly a third are interested in AI personal trainers (32%).
As we look at older age brackets, we see a stepwise decline in interest. For those aged 55 and above, the figures drop sharply to just 11% for both image creation and personalized workouts. It's not just a simple case of declining interest; it appears there's a generational shift in how AI technology is perceived and accepted, with younger individuals more likely to embrace these digital innovations as a part of their lives.
