Gaming Buzz – Mar 2024: Diablo’s hellish rise

Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo franchise claims the top spot in the US segment of the March 2024 edition of Gaming Buzz Movers, with a 5.9-point gain in Buzz scores. This may have been spurred by Diablo’s introduction to Xbox Game Pass in late March.

A franchise’s Buzz score is the difference between the percentage of respondents hearing positive things (from friends, family, or the media) and the percentage hearing negative things about it in the past two weeks. This Buzz movers piece highlights the video game franchises that registered the biggest month-over-month upticks in Buzz scores among gamers. Gamers are defined as those who play on PC or console for at least an hour each week.

Fortnite claims the second spot among American gamers, rising 5.8 points amid online chatter about the launch of Season 2 of Chapter 5. Assassin’s Creed rounds off the list, probably on account of growing interest in upcoming instalments of the game, chiefly Assassin’s Creed Red. Several gaming websites have recently published the ‘everything we know so far’ type of content pieces that summarize developments and rumors around in-demand games.

Roblox is the franchise that claims the top spot among British gamers with a 4-point bump in Buzz. Pokémon (+2.4) claims the second spot in the UK. The franchise recently announced that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will release worldwide in 2025 with a cinematic trailer. EA Sports FC claims the third spot in the UK.
