Football Buzz Movers – November 2023: Juventus flies high
Juventus, who have gone undefeated in Serie A since late September, gained a massive boost to its Buzz score, registering the biggest move across markets in the November edition of Football’s Biggest Buzz Movers.
The Old Lady also briefly occupied the top spot in the points table and is currently placed in second spot just below Inter despite an unbeaten record that now stretches back to September’s surprise defeat against Sassuolo. Ironically, the team Juventus beat to get to the top of the table is the next on the Buzz movers’ list for Italy – Cagliari Calcio witnessed a 6.2-point uptick. Inter, Atalanta and Empoli round off the list.
Football's biggest Buzz movers is a monthly editorial feature, which highlights the clubs with the biggest improvement in Buzz scores in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France.
Getafe, whose unbeaten November included a 12-0 thrashing of Tardienta in the first round of the Copa del Rey, also sealed the biggest Buzz uptick among Spaniards - +4.3 points. Girona, who are currently placed second on the La Liga table, is a close second, with an uptick of 4.0 points. PSG, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao also feature in the list.
Clubs made relatively small upward movements in the UK, Sheffield United leading the way with just 1.9 points – probably due to the club registering its first and so far only win of the season in the month. Liverpool, Rangers, Juventus and Chelsea all made modest upticks of between 1 and 2 points.
Paris Saint-Germain’s thrilling draw against Newcastle United at the end of November may have generated more VAR controversy, but the negative attention around it didn’t sabotage the club’s Buzz performance. Luis Enrique’s team, which is currently leading Ligue 1, gained 4.2 points in November to top the charts. Real Madrid come in second with a 3.5-point improvement. Nice, Liverpool and Metz round off the list.
Like in the UK, no German club really made a massive Buzz improvement – perhaps because of the international breaks which have broken the season’s narrative momentum. Werder Bremen and Hamburger were the only clubs to register gains of more than two. Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt and Augsburg made smaller upticks.
