Suits, The Lincoln Lawyer and Painkiller are the three most-streamed shows in America for August, 2023. The data comes from YouGov Stream, which collects global viewership data from a panel of more than 160,000 accounts. The chart below shows how many views and viewers each title had on the platform where it was most popular. The chart also shows the average number of views per viewer (Vs/Vr), which is an indicator of how much consumers are bingeing a particular title.
The back catalogue of Suits remains the most-streamed title in America for the second month running, with more than twice as many views as the runner-up. It’s also by far the most binged show. The average Suits viewer watched 26 episodes in August, nearly four times as many as the next most binged shows on this list.
Painkiller is the most-streamed new show, with 108.3 million views. Based on Patrick Radden Keefe’s “The Family That Build an Empire of Pain,” the Netflix mini-series focuses on Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of OxyContin, and recounts the beginning of the opioid crisis.
Action series Who is Erin Carter? follows a British ex-pat who moves with her family to Barcelona. When Erin violently thwarts a supermarket robbery, it’s the first sign of the secret life she’s been hiding from everyone she knows.
On a list dominated by Netflix, Prime Video has two titles. British fantasy comedy series Good Omens is the eighth most-streamed title in America, with 53.6 million views. The Summer I Turned Pretty, a much-talked-about coming-of-age romance, premiered its second season on July 14.
