US: Most in-demand TV and film for July 1-15 2023
The Idol, The Witcher and The Bear are the most in-demand titles in the US for the first half of July. The chart below comes from YouGov Signal, a social listening tool that tracks the performance of TV programs, movies and brands. Here are the ones with the highest peak Appetite Scores among US audiences in the past two weeks:
Buzzy HBO drama The Idol remains the most in-demand title for the first half of July. The show has attracted a lot of critique from its outset, but that seems only to feed interest in the depiction of showbiz excess.
Netflix only released the first five episodes of the third season of The Witcher, a fantasy genre show starring Henry Cavill, on June 29, but this was enough to make the program the second most in-demand in the US. These will be followed up with three more episodes to be released on July 27.
Netflix has several other titles on the list, including Australian horror film Run Rabbit Run. Although the film has received poor reviews, it still has Americans talking. Action-comedy The Out-Laws and The Lincoln Lawyer also made the top ten.
Hulu’s The Bear has climbed four positions to become the third most in-demand title in America. The comedy-drama follows Jeremy Allan White as a young chef overseeing an unruly staff in his family’s sandwich shop. The second season was released on June 23 and continues to attract interest online.
Disney+ has only one title on the top ten list this period. Secret Invasion is based on a Marvel Comics storyline about a conspiracy of shapeshifting Skrulls to control Earth.
Most in-demand titles for June 16-30
