GB: Lush invests in creating a circular economy - Are its customers big on sustainability in retail?
British cosmetics retailer Lush has invested £2.3 million towards its commitment to building a circular economy. The company has launched a ‘Green Hub’ aimed at finding solutions for materials that are considered as ‘waste’. The centre will identify ways in which materials from across the business can be reused, repurposed, repaired and recycled. Furthermore, the Green Hub will treat wastewater from the cosmetic brand’s manufacturing and laundry processes.
In light of this, we look at Lush’s customers’ views toward sustainable retail and production practices.
According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - 72% of the brand’s customers think sustainable practices make a difference to the environment.
YouGov data also reveals what Lush’s customers think about socially and environmentally responsible companies.
Profiles data shows that nearly half of them (49%) agree with the statement that they “try to buy only from companies who are socially and environmentally responsible.” By comparison, 36% of the general British population agrees with the statement.
