US: FitFlop opens first US store - What do Americans look for when shopping for clothes and shoes?
British footwear and apparel brand FitFlop has opened its first American store in New York, as part of the brand’s global retail expansion plan.
With FitFlop entering the brick-and-mortar space in the US, we look at YouGov data to see whether Americans shop for clothes and shoes online or offline.
According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - a near equal proportion of Americans shop for clothes and shoes online versus offline (35% vs. 36%) with 23% of them evenly splitting their clothing and shoe purchases between both online and offline channels.
When it comes to factors that the general American population considers when shopping for shoes, clothes and accessories, 21% of them look for cheapest prices overall, 18% want the best special offers and 17% prioritize product quality. Trust in the company (8%) and availability of a wide range of products (7%) wrap up the top five factors influencing Americans’ choices toward clothing.
