US: Best Buy’s new electronics recycling program - Are its customers big on recycling appliances?
American consumer electronics retailer, Best Buy, has launched a recycling program allowing customers to mail in their old electronics for recycling. Customers can choose between a small box (for $22.99) and a medium box (for $29.99) to fill with electronics including cords, laptops and tablets to send across to the retailer. Last year, the company introduced a home pick-up recycling service for $200 and this new initiative marks Best Buy’s second recycling program.

According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - 22% of Best Buy’s consumers and 18% of the general US population claim to recycle all or almost all electrical appliances.
Profiles data also reveals that 21% of Best Buy’s consumers say they never recycle electrical appliances along with 25% of the general population who say the same.
We explore YouGov data further to see whether the retailer’s consumers opt for or prefer sustainable brands.
