Everton, Real Madrid among the YouGov’s Biggest Football Buzz movers in February 2023
Everton gained a 10.1-point jump in its Buzz scores to take top honours in this month’s Football Buzz Movers list in the UK. February was an eventful month for Everton on the field, with defeats to Aston Villa and Liverpool being counter-balanced by victories over Leeds United and Arsenal. Plausibly the win over Arsenal, who are leading the League table, may have contributed most heavily to Everton’s jump.
Tottenham, who picked up Premier League wins over Man City, West Ham and Chelsea in February, scaled up five points. Leicester City (+3.6), Wolverhampton Wanderers (+2) and Bayern Munich (+1.7) round off the top five in the UK.
While Bayern Munich made an appearance on the UK list, the table-toppers of the Bundesliga are absent from the German one. FC Union Berlin claims the top spot in Germany with a 10.4-point leap. Among other wins in February, Union Berlin also defeated Ajax in the Europa League to advance to the round of 16. Borussia Dortmund, who won all their Bundesliga matches in February as well as their Champions League clash against Chelsea, rose 7.7 points on the Buzz meter. RB Leipzig (+3.7), St. Pauli (+3) and Werder Bremen (+2.8) also make it to the list.
Real Madrid climbed 12.3 points in Buzz scores among Spain’s consumers in a month where they won the Club World Cup final, and also beat Liverpool soundly in their UEFA Champions League clash at Anfield. Revival of rumours linking French star Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid may have also played a role. Manchester United claims the second spot in Spain with a 6.9-point jump, perhaps helped by their ouster of Barcelona in the Europa League. Cadiz CF (+3.5), Real Sociedad (+3.1) and RCD Espanyol (+3).
Marseille (+4.4), who won their round of 16 match against PSG in the French Cup, takes the Buzz crown in France. Strasbourg (+1.5), Stade Brest (+1.1), Stade Rennais (+1) and Borussia Dortmund (+0.8) made relatively small improvements in Buzz scores.
In Italy, Napoli (+5.9) takes the top spot after having won all their matches in February to strengthen their place at the top of the Serie A table. Sassuolo (+5.8), Monza (+5), Juventus (+4.5) and Atletico Madrid (+2.6) round off the list.
