Michigan-based car maker, General Motors (GM), will start delivering electric versions of its Hummer SUV by the end of the first quarter of 2023. GM has already been delivering a truck version of the Hummer EV since December 2021.

What do SUV owners, traditionally associated with gas-guzzling engines in the US, feel about going electric?

According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal, and behavioral consumer metrics - most SUV owners are favorable to electric engines. Data indicates that over half (54%) of SUV owners “tend to agree” or “definitely agree” with the statement that “electric cars are the future of the motor industry.”

SUV owners slightly lag behind the US general population (61%), who are more likely to agree with the statement.

Over one-third (34%) of SUV buyers disagree with the statement outstripping the quarter of the general population who also disagree that ”electric cars are the future of the motor industry.”
