US: Under Armour welcomes new CEO – How did the brand fare under its previous chief?
American sports apparel brand, Under Armour, has appointed Stephanie Linnartz as its new CEO effective 27 February 2023. Linnartz - currently President, Marriott International - will take over from interim chief Colin Browne, who had stepped into the role after his predecessor Patrik Frisk made an exit in May 2022.
How has the brand done in recent years?
According to YouGov BrandIndex - which tracks consumer sentiment towards thousands of brands daily - Under Armour’s brand health dipped a little over a point under Frisk.
The retailer’s Index metric - which is an overall measure of brand health, made up of General Impression, Customer Satisfaction, Quality, Value, Corporate Reputation and Recommendation - dropped slightly, from a net score of 27. 8 on 1 January 2020 (when Frisk took over as CEO) to 26.3 on 1 June 2022, when Browne stepped in on an interim basis. The metric was at 26.8 on 21 December 2022.
At 7%, the brand’s Current Customer metric has remained unchanged since Frisk took over to now.

The brand’s Current Customer score is based on the question: Have you purchased clothing, shoes, accessories or luggage from any of the following brands in the past 3 months? and delivered as a percentage.
