Kineree Shah - June 8th, 2022

In this month’s top improving brand in terms of Ad Awareness, we have Virgin Atlantic ranking first followed by Robinsons at number two and TalkTalk in third place. According to YouGov BrandIndex data which tracks brand perception on a daily basis, the airline giant witnessed a rise of 4.1 percentage points in the past month, to secure the top spot.

In mid-April Virgin Atlantic launched a 60-second TV ad titled ‘See the world differently’ which focuses on its heritage of challenging the status quo and recognizing individuality. On International Flight Attendant Day, the airline announced on Twitter that they’ll no longer ask cabin staff to cover up their tattoos.

Top-selling squash brand Robinsons saw a jump of 4.3 percentage points from 5.9% on April 26 to 10.3% on May 25 gaining the second spot. It became the ‘Official Soft Drinks Partner’ of cricket tournament The Hundred earlier this month and has launched a £1.5 million campaign called ‘The Big Fruit Hunt’ which will run from June to September 2.

Telcoms group TalkTalk, which provides television and internet services to business and consumers, saw an increase from 11.3% to 15.6% (+4.2 percentage points). The growth could be associated with its 'it just makes SenseSense' ad campaign which shines light on TalkTalk’s speedy connection.

Methodology

YouGov BrandIndex collects data on thousands of brands every day. A brand’s Ad Awareness score is based on the question: “Which of the following consumer brands have you seen an advertisement for in the past two weeks?” Ad Awareness scores are delivered as a percentage. The data is based on the interviews of UK adults aged 18+ between April 26 and May 25, 2022. Learn more about BrandIndex.
