Thais' Attitude to Songkran's Holiday 2022

Songkran, which marks the start of the Thai New Year, is drawing near. While celebrations for Songkran in 2021 were limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will this year’s celebrations be different? As travel regulations Thailand ease, latest data from YouGov shows that 26% of Thais are planning to go back to their hometown for the holidays, while 6% of Thais are planning to travel abroad. However, half of Thais have no plans to travel during this period of time, with many citing COVID-19 concerns (58%) and expected traffic jams (39%) as the top reasons for not travelling.
