Do Thais like selling on Social Commerce?

With the currently occurring worldwide health crisis followed by an economic crisis, many businesses are forced to tighten their belts regardless their sizes. With the fear of economic and job instability, many are thinking to extend their streams of income. And this has led to the rise of micro-businesses, especially on social media.

These micro-businesses can be seen every time we scroll through our social media, with people selling a wide ranges of products, from yummy-looking cookies, cute handmade handbags, to re-selling popular skincare brands.

YouGov's recent study reveals that Thais are also catching up with this phenomenon. We find that 30% of Thais sell via social commerce during COVID, in which 60% of the sellers are also working full time. Facebook (39%), Line (20%) and Instagram (13%) are the most popular platforms used.
