The iconic hospitality brand has created the most positive buzz among luxury hotels in the country

Summer time is travel time. While hotels and agents prepare to lure customers with best offers and deals, YouGov reveals the brands that have created the most positive buzz in the hospitality and travel industry since the beginning of this year.

YouGov BrandIndex, the daily brand health tracker, measures the public’s perception of brands on a daily basis across a range of measures. These rankings are based on Buzz score, which measures whether people have heard anything good or bad about a brand during the previous two weeks, between January and May 2019.

Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, the hallmark of iconic hospitality, tops the list with a Buzz score of +13.6 points. ITC Hotels and Marriott follow in second and third, with a score of 9.4 and 8.8, respectively.

The recent move by Taj Group to welcome Jet employees to be a part of its heritage and work culture seems to have worked in the company’s favour and enhanced its Buzz score. Not just the buzz, even the Word-of-mouth score of the brand has gone up in May, suggesting the increased chatter among people about the brand.

Hyatt, Oberoi Hotels and Resorts and Hilton are next in the list at four, five and six, respectively. Sheraton is at seven, while Taj’s business and leisure hotel chain Vivanta is at eight.

Finally, the list is completed by Trident at nine and Intercontinental at ten.

With the travel season around the corner, many travel and booking sites are providing huge discounts, cashbacks and options to pay later on summer bookings. YouGov BrandIndex shows that among the hotels and travel booking sites, MakeMyTrip takes the lead, with a Buzz score of 42.4, followed by Trivago at second and Goibibo at third.

The new ad campaign for MakeMyTrip featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh has started conversation about the brand, driving up its Buzz score.
