GB: Telecom providers to hike rates - How much are Britons currently paying their mobile operators?

Beginning April and May 2023, British telecom providers like BT, EE, Vodafone, Virgin Media, O2 and TalkTalk are expected to make broadband and bills heavier on consumers’ pockets under “mid-contract price rises.” The move has prompted UK media regulator, Ofcom to launch an investigation, expressing concerns over the ‘system’ being deployed by telecom companies to calculate the new rates.

How much are people in Britain currently paying for their mobile networks each month?

According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - 43% of Britons spend less than £15 monthly, in payments to their mobile network provider. Of these 43% consumers, 19% pay between £5 and £9.99 and 18% pay between £10 and £14.99.

Almost two in 10 (19%) of the general Great Britain (GB) population pay their mobile network provider £30 or more each month.

Profiles data suggests that, when choosing a mobile operator, Britons consider cheapest prices overall (26%) as the most important factor, followed by coverage quality at 18%.
