Douglas Rivers, Chief Scientist, YouGov & Professor of Political Science, Stanford University
Doug Rivers is a leading expert in survey research and Chief Scientist at YouGov.
As a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, Doug founded several successful technology companies, led a successful IPO, and was named Executive of the Year by Research Business Report in 2000. Doug founded Knowledge Networks, sold to GfK in 2011, and had his companies Polimetrix and Crunch.io acquired by YouGov. Crunch.io operates independently, with Doug as CEO.
A fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 2015, Doug is also a board member of the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research and a political analyst for CBS News.
He teaches at Stanford University, where he is a Professor of Political Science and a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. Doug has published in top journals, holds a BA from Columbia, and a PhD from Harvard.
Kathy Frankovic, former director of CBS News Poll and YouGov election and polling consultant
Kathy Frankovic spent more than three decades at CBS News as the Director of the CBS News Poll. After the 2000 election, she was placed in charge of the network’s Election Night decision team, and She projected election results for elections from 2002 to 2008. Since her retirement from full-time work at CBS News, she has been an Election and Polling consultant for YouGov and other survey research organizations.
She served as President of both the World Association for Public Opinion Research and the American Association for Public Opinion Research. She won national awards for her work conducting and explaining public opinion for the news media, including the AAPOR Award for Exceptionally Distinguished Achievement, the association’s highest honor, and the Roper Center Mitofsky Award for Excellence in Public Opinion Research.
Philip Bump, National columnist, The Washington Post
Philip Bump is a national columnist for The Washington Post. Prior to that he led politics coverage for The Atlantic Wire. As one of the paper's most-read writers, he focuses on the data behind polls and political rhetoric.
He also writes a weekly newsletter, "How To Read This Chart." He has appeared or been heard on most major media outlets, from MSNBC to Fox News to PBS to NPR. His book, The Aftermath, looks at the overlap of the end of the baby boom and the upheaval in American politics and the U.S. economy.
Walter Hickey, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and data expert
Walt Hickey is the executive editor of the new business site Sherwood News and the writer of Numlock, a daily morning newsletter about numbers in the news. He is the author of the book You Are What You Watch. He previously worked at Business Insider and FiveThirtyEight, where he has covered politics, pop culture, and news through data journalism and visualization. He won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Illustrated Reporting and Commentary.
Ashley Grosse, Ph.D., EVP & Head of Academic and Public Affairs, YouGov – Scientific Research Group
Ashley Grosse is the managing director for the YouGov Scientific Research unit. She has nearly 30 years’ experience managing large, complex and methodologically demanding survey projects including her time managing the American National Election Studies (NES). She earned an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Washington State University.
