Football Buzz Movers – May 2024: Buzz upticks for Champions League finalists

Real Madrid’s Buzz score among consumers in Spain surged to 49.1 in May from an average of 38.8 in April. This was probably an outcome of their La Liga title win and strong showing in the Champions League (which they eventually went on to win on June 2). Borussia Dortmund, who eventually lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, claimed the second spot on the Spanish chart – rising to 13.9 from 5.8. Bayern Munich, Celta de Vigo and Real Sociedad round off the list.

In Italy, Atalanta saw a substantial increase in their Buzz score, 11.4 to 22.9. This can be attributed to their impressive performance in the Serie A, securing a Champions League spot for next season. Borussia Dortmund also saw an uptick in Italy, with their score rising to 12.0 from 4.5. Bologna F.C. also improved their Buzz score, climbing to 17.7 from 12.0, thanks to a late surge in the Serie A standings, which helped them avoid relegation. Fiorentina and Hellas Verona round off the list.

In the UK, Leicester City tops the list, gaining nearly seven points, after clinching their return to the Premier League by winning the Championship. Borussia Dortmund’s (+5.3) Champions League exploits got the UK talking too. Manchester City F.C. saw their score increase to 14.6 from 9.6, likely driven by their Premier League triumph.

In Germany, FC St. Pauli’s Buzz score rose to 10.6 from 5.0, driven by their remarkable turnaround in the second division of the Bundesliga which resulted in them lifting the trophy and securing promotion. Borussia Dortmund remained a focal point in German football, with their score increasing to 19.1 from 13.9.

In France, Olympique de Marseille’s Buzz score increased to 14.3 from 7.8, driven by their strong finish in Ligue 1 and securing a spot in European competition. Olympique Lyonnais saw their score rise to 11.7 from 7.6, thanks to their resurgence in the domestic league. Borussia Dortmund’s influence extended to France, where their score increased to 12.6 from 5.7, reflecting their global reach and exciting brand of football.
