Baby Reindeer, Fallout, and The Big Bang Theory: The most-streamed TV in the UK, April 2024

The three most-streamed titles in April were Baby Reindeer, Fallout, and The Big Bang Theory. The chart below shows how many views and viewers each title had on the platform where it was most popular. The chart also shows the average number of views per viewer (Vs/Vr), which indicates how much consumers are binging a particular title.

Baby Reindeer, a dark comedy is based on creator Richard Gadd’s experiences with an alleged stalker, is the most-streamed title in the UK with 68m views. The show’s profile was probably boosted by a real-life crossover scandal. Since the release of the show, online sleuths discovered and exposed the identity of the real-life counterpart to the fictional stalker character. This woman denies she stalked Gadd and is threatening to sue Netflix over its violation of her privacy.

Post-apocalyptic video game adaptation Fallout is Amazon Prime’s sole entry in the top ten. With over 67m views, it’s the second-most-streamed title in the UK. Prime released all eight episodes the first season on April 10, giving it the rest of the month to catch the eyes of 11m viewers. Directed by Jonathan Nolan (Westworld), the show follows a group of people who must leave underground fallout bunkers to return to the earth’s irradiated surface for the first time in over 200 years.

Crime series Dexter (#6) and Monk (#8) are new to the most-streamed list but not new to TV audiences. Dexter Morgan, a forensic technician who moonlights killing unpunished murderers, is literally the serial killers’ serial killer. All 8 seasons, the last of which aired in 2013, were released on Netflix in April, and audiences have responded by watching nearly 40m episodes of it.

Monk follows a detective with obsessive compulsive disorder and aired the last of its eight seasons in 2009. Recently re-released on Netflix, it was the ninth most-streamed title in the UK in April.
