Deliveroo and Gojek tie up: are the recent cross-platform deals exciting consumers?

Samuel Tan - October 18th, 2023

In early August, ride-hailing platform Gojek and food delivery platform Deliveroo announced a long-term partnership, which would see users of both platforms enjoy discounts on Gojek rides and Deliveroo orders within Singapore.

Among the first cross-platform perks announced are two voucher deals that run from 1 August to 31 October: Gojek users who take eight rides in a calendar month will receive $8 worth of Deliveroo vouchers, while Deliveroo Plus Gold customers will receive a complimentary pair of 20% off Gojek vouchers every month.

With both campaigns entering their final two weeks, has consideration of Deliveroo’s services grown among Gojek users since the launch of their partnership?

Latest data from YouGov Profiles show that, as of mid-October 2023, consumer consideration of Deliveroo is significantly higher among Gojek users (8%) than among the general population (5%) [Z-score: +2.1].

However, between late July and mid-October this year, consideration of Deliveroo among Gojek users has dipped by two percentage points from 10 to 8%.

In comparison, Gojek Singapore users’ consideration of rival food delivery platforms Foodpanda dropped one percentage point from 13 to 12% but increased for GrabFood by two percentage points from 19 to 21%.

Foodpanda partnered with DFI retail group in September to offer grocery deliveries from supermarket chains CS Fresh, Cold Storage & Giant within one hour, while GrabFood had announced a new sonic logo in late August – a notification tune that plays when GrabFood F&B merchants receive an order through the app – after Grab found some delivery delays were caused by F&B staff not hearing that a new order had come in.
