US: Holland America Line will embark on longer journeys - How keen are cruise passengers this year?
American cruise line, Holland America Line, has launched longer roundtrip sailings out of domestic homeports. The company will chart Caribbean waters with cruises ranging from nine to 21 days, and sail to destinations such as Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao islands, the Panama Canal and Colombia. Similarly, a new “Legendary Voyages” package will offer 29-to-59-day trips, sailing out of the US and Canada.
As Holland America Line unveils longer roundtrip offerings, we see how likely the company's current customers are to use travel or leisure services in the coming 12 months.
According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - more than half (52%) of Holland America Line’s current consumers and 22% of the general US population are “very likely” to purchase or use travel or leisure services in the next 12 months.
In addition, 23% of Holland America Line’s customers and 14% of general American population say they are “likely” to purchase or use travel or leisure services in the coming year.
Gus Antorcha, president, Holland America Line, says that “customer feedback and the (increased) price of airfares” has informed the company’s decision to offer longer roundtrip sailings out of domestic homeports. "Air travel is tough. We've all experienced it. Increasingly tough and increasingly expensive," Antorcha adds.
