US and GB: Snapchat’s AI-powered chat bot for paid subscribers - What do users feel about AI?
Snapchat has announced an AI-powered chat bot that runs on OpenAI’s GPT technology. According to the social media platform, the chat bot called ‘My AI’ is available to paid subscribers of the Snapchat+ service and can help users plan trips, suggest recipes and more. But the chatbot comes with a disclaimer - “As with all AI-powered chat bots, My AI is prone to hallucination and can be tricked into saying just about anything.”
What do Snapchat’s users feel about artificial intelligence?
According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - 69% of Snapchat’s users in the US agree with the statement that they “have to pay attention so that the development of artificial intelligence doesn’t get out of hand.” Of the general British population, 66% agree with the statement.
Further, 62% of Snapchat’s users in the US and 68% of its users in Britain agree with the statement that they “think in the future, artificial intelligence will help humans in most of their daily tasks.”
Data from Profiles suggests that less than half (44%) of Snapchat’s current users in the US agree with the statement that they “love the ease of using chat bots to get answers.” In Great Britain, half of Snapchat’s users agree with the statement.
When it comes to channels Snapchat’s American users tend to use to contact a business, 71% of them use phones, with emails (68%) and contacting businesses in person (38%) ranking second and third respectively. About 28% of them use the chat bots on a business’ website.
Most Britons (69%) use emails to contact businesses, followed by phone (50%). Live chat on websites (42%) rank third. Chatting via chat bots on websites is a channel used by 28% of Snapchat’s users in Britain.
