Resolutions are a popular way to greet the new year, and many take the time to set goals for themselves. New Year’s resolutions provide insight into people’s frame of mind and what they’ll focus on to improve their lifestyle for the year ahead.

Health-focused goals dominate the top three resolutions among Danes and Swedes this year. Over a third say they want to improve their physical health (35%) and 21% say they want to improve their mental well-being.

A fifth (20%) of consumers want to spend more time with their loved ones in 2023. Women show a higher propensity than men to resolve to do this over the coming year (22% vs. 17%).

Personal finances are also top-of-mind for many Nordic consumers. Nearly one in six say they want to manage their money better this year.

Another popular resolution is to travel more, with 15% of Danes and Swedes resolving to do so over the coming year. Data from YouGov DestinationIndex, which tracks more than 130 travel destinations across 25 tourism markets, reveals that some of the most sought-after destinations among Danes include Spain (34.5% of Danish consumers would consider going here), Italy (32.5%), Germany (27.9%), Greece (22.5%) and the Netherlands (20.9%).
