UAE’s most talked-about brands for October 2022
McDonalds was the most talked-about brand in the UAE, followed by Global Village at number two and Amazon Prime in third place. According to YouGov BrandIndex data, which tracks brand perception among consumers on a daily basis, these three brands saw the highest increase in WOM exposure during October, making them our top three most talked-about brands in the UAE.
WOM asks consumers if they have talked about the brand with family or friends in the previous two weeks and based on the scores for the month, we determine our most talked-about brands.
McDonalds is the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and is giving away free goodies (including free match tickets) to customers who meet minimum spending requirements. The brand has collaborated with consumer electronics brand Hisense for this campaign. YouGov BrandIndex shows McDonalds WOM metrics rose by 7.5 percentage points from 39% on October 1 to 46.5% on October 22.
Global Village - one of Dubai’s most visited entertainment venues - has generated a lot of excitement ahead of its upcoming 27th season. Glimpses of new attractions including House of Fears, Road of Asia, and Diggers Lab on its Instagram and Twitter accounts helped its WOM score rise by 7.5 percentage points from 35.4% on October 1 to 42.9% on October 30.
Ranking third on our list is Amazon Prime which witnessed a rise of seven percentage points from 25.1% on October 10 to 32.1% on October 23. The brand announced ‘11.11 sale’ which runs in November offering a range of deals.

Methodology
YouGov BrandIndex collects data on thousands of brands every day. A brand’s Word of Mouth score is based on the question: “Which of the following brands have you talked about with friends and family in the past two weeks (whether in person, online, or through social media)?” Data from surveys of adults aged 18 years and above residing in the UAE from 1 October to 31 October 2022. Word of Mouth scores are based on a four-week moving average. The change in scores for each brand is calculated by taking the difference between the highest and lowest scoring days within the period.
