Global – Usage of biometric security booming
A new study conducted by YouGov across 18 markets indicates that the use of biometric security is gaining momentum right across the world.
We asked consumers to state their level of agreement with the following statement: I use biometric security (such as fingerprint and face recognition) on some or all of my technology devices. While more than half of respondents globally say that they use biometric security on some or all tech devices, about a quarter do not use it.
Looking at the trends in Asia, at least half of consumers from India, UAE, Singapore, Indonesia, China and Hong Kong say that they use biometric security on some or all technology devices.
When it comes to Europe, the market is divided. While around two in five from Sweden, France and Germany use biometrics, nearly the same percentage in each market don’t. In Britain, Spain, and Poland, at least a third say they don’t use biometric security.
Coming to North America, significantly more Mexicans say that they use biometric security than Canadians. Notably, US consumers are the least likely of all the markets we polled to say that they use biometrics on their electronic devices.

Methodology
YouGov RealTime Omnibus provides quick survey results from nationally representative or targeted audiences in multiple markets. The data is based on surveys of adults aged 18 and over in 18 markets with sample sizes varying between 520 and 2014 for each market. All surveys were conducted online in April 2022. Data from each market uses a nationally representative sample apart from Mexico and India, which use urban representative samples, and Indonesia and Hong Kong, which use online representative samples.
