YouGov’s UK Charity rankings highlight the best-performing organisations in the third sector according to their donor ranking score. The YouGov Charity rankings 2023 are calculated using data we collect from members of the public, across the UK, using the YouGov CharityIndex tool.
In 2023, Macmillan Cancer Support have claimed first place with a score of 43.1, while British Red Cross have topped our improver list with a score of 26.6 and a change in score of 3 points.
Methodology
Donor Consideration
The charities in the YouGov UK Charity rankings 2023 were ranked using the Donor Consideration score - a daily measure of which charities the nation would likely donate to tomorrow - according to YouGov CharityIndex.
The top ranked rankings chart shows the brands with the highest average Donor Consideration score between January 1st and December 31st, 2022. The scores are representative of the general population of adults 18+. The top improvers rankings chart shows the brands with the highest increase in Donor Consideration score comparing January 1st to December 31st, 2021, and January 1st to December 31st, 2022.
All scores listed have been rounded to a single decimal place; however, we have used additional precision to assign ranks. All brands must have been tracked for at least six months in order to be eligible for inclusion in the rankings.
