Who is the Middle East's Favorite Superhero?

A recent YouGov survey among 1,981 online respondents in the Middle East revealed Superman is the region’s favorite superhero, with 35 percent indicating as such.

According to online respondents, Superman is also the strongest superhero out there, with 40 percent agreeing. Support for Superman is especially strong in Lebanon, where 48 percent of online respondents say he is the strongest.

Even among those who prefer other superheros, the majority of online respondents (70 percent) agree that Superman would beat Batman in a fight. A similar portion (70 percent) agree that if given the choice to be either Batman or Superman, they would choose Superman.

Interestingly, while online respondents prefer Superman to other superheros, when asked what super power they would choose only 11 percent said they would like to be able to fly and only 9 percent said superhuman strength. The most preferred super power among online respondents is the ability to become invisible (18 percent).

Data was collected using YouGov’s online panel from September 19 – 22, 2013 among 1,981 online respondents. Figures are largely representative of online populations in the Middle East.
