Since we ran last year’s Best Places to Live in Dubai poll, our inbox has been full of requests from panelists to run a similar survey in Abu Dhabi. We’re glad to announce that the wait is finally over and we can now tell you exactly which area of Abu Dhabi is the best place to live, as chosen by residents! We asked 721 residents from across Abu Dhabi to rate their community on a variety of factors, from shopping and recreation to schools and healthcare, helping us unearth the truth about Abu Dhabi’s residential areas.
Overall, the best-rated residential area in Abu Dhabi is the western part of Abu Dhabi Island, including Al Khalidiya and Al Bateen. Abu Dhabi Island West is both the most sought after district and the area residents are least likely to want to move out of. With its proximity to Marina Mall, it’s perhaps no surprise that this area was best rated for shopping and malls and for recreation. Abu Dhabi West was also best rated for having a community feel and for safety and security.
With its multitude of hotels, the Tourist Club area comes in first as the best place for going out, and is rated in second place for both recreation and shopping, with Abu Dhabi Mall nearby. Madinat Khalifa is a sensible option for those looking for more peace and quiet, also scoring well in terms of value for money and having a community feel.
