A new YouGov survey, polling 18,000 respondents across 17 markets, reveals that New Year’s resolutions remain a popular tradition, with the majority of polled respondents planning to make some resolutions for 2025. As in previous years, improving physical fitness tops the list, but there is a strong focus on financial and mental health.

The survey finds that 52% of consumers worldwide intend to improve their physical health in 2025. This goal is especially prominent in Indonesia and India (65% each), followed closely by Italy (64%) and Singapore (61%).

In addition to physical health, 38% of respondents aim to manage their finances better in the new year. A significant majority of Indonesians (74%) are prioritizing financial management, followed by Hong Kongers (60%), Indians and Singaporeans (57% each). In Europe, around a third of respondents share the same goal, with Spanish and Polish respondents (33%) most likely to cite it as a New Year resolution, while Swedes (19%) are the least likely to set a financial resolution.

When it comes to mental health, Indonesians (55%) and Indians (52%) lead the way in prioritizing their well-being. Additionally, over half of respondents in Indonesia (55%) plan to spend more time with family and loved ones, with close to half of respondents in the UAE (50%) and India (49%) saying the same.

The next tier of resolutions include travel more (30%) and spending less time on phone as well as social media (20% each). Italians are the most likely to say they plan to travel more in 2025 (52%), followed by Hong Kongers (44%) and Singaporeans (41%). In contrast, Swedes (16%) and Americans (19%) are the least likely to make travel a priority.

Interestingly, Indians are most focused on reducing screen time, with 43% aiming to spend less time on their phones and 42% aiming to reduce social media use in the coming year.
