Everton’s rebound in Buzz scores from -6.2 to 0.1 saw the club claim the YouGov Football Buzz Movers crown in the last month of 2023. Everton’s bounce back was probably a reflection of mean reversion after the dip in November caused by their 10-point deduction by the league. The Sean Dyche-led side won some key matches in the closing month of the year to climb out of relegation zone.
Football's biggest Buzz movers is a monthly editorial feature, which highlights the clubs with the biggest improvement in Buzz scores in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France.
Liverpool, who finished December undefeated, is next on UK charts with a six-point bump in scores. Arsenal, Aston Villa and Luton Town round off the list.
FC Berlin gained 6.7 points in Buzz scores among Germans to top the list there. The club won its basement battle match against FC Koln, thus improving its chances of avoiding relegation. FC Schalke, Liverpool, Hertha BSC and Bayer Leverkusen also feature in this segment of the list.
Upticks were relatively modest in Spain, with Girona (+4.3) leading the charts. Girona won key clashes in the final month of 2023, including a La Liga clash against Barcelona, to end the year at No.2 on the table. Real Madrid gained a 4-point rise in Buzz scores, while Valencia, Villareal and Lazio round off the list.
Marseille, which won four and drew one Ligue 1 matches in December, lead the charts among the French with a gain of 6.4 points. Lyon, Manchester United, Stade Brest and LOSC Lille also feature in the chart.
Having gone unbeaten in the month across the Serie A and Coppa Italia, Bologna picked up a 6.6-point boost in Buzz scores to top the Italian segment of the Buzz charts. Inter, who finished the year on the top of the points table, gained 4 points on the Buzz scale. Torino, Frosinone and Liverpool close out the list in Italy.
