Gaming Buzz – Oct 2023: GTA claims US crown, Assassin’s Creed goes big in Britain
Amid rumors and reports about the latest GTA title, the franchise again features in our top Video Game Buzz Movers for the month of October. The franchise’s Buzz score in the US went up from 5.1 to 15.1 among American gamers, showing that fans are probably liking what they’re hearing about the upcoming GTA VI title even though official updates have been scant.
Among the other GTA rumors that did the rounds in October, most notable was one that stated that Netflix might be planning to bring the franchise to its gaming platform.
The franchise had also topped the US Buzz charts in the August edition of the Video Game Buzz Movers.
A franchise’s Buzz score is the difference between the percentage of respondents hearing positive things (from friends, family, or the media) and the percentage hearing negative things about it in the past two weeks. This Buzz movers piece highlights the video game franchises that registered the biggest month-over-month upticks in Buzz scores among gamers. Gamers are defined as those who play on PC or console for at least an hour each week.
Roblox also witnessed a big 6.8-point jump in the US, perhaps influenced by the debut of the title on PlayStation. Fortnite rounds off the list with a 6.6-point bump, in spite of media reports stating that fans weren’t too thrilled about recent updates to the game’s UI.
Across the pond, gamers seemed to have been noting positive commentary around Assassin’s Creed, quite possibly because of the largely positive reception that the latest release, Mirage, has garnered. The Ubisoft franchise’s Buzz score jumped 9.3 points during the month.
The Sims claims the second spot among British gamers with a 3.9-point improvement in scores, while eFootball – which recently launched the 2024 edition – rounds off the top three with a 3.8-point boost in scores.

Scores reported represent the change between the 30-day daily average between Aug 30 – Sep 29, 2022 and Sep 30 – Oct 29, 2023. Scores are based on an average sample size of 266 gamers in Great Britain and 468 in the US. Daily figures are based on a four-week moving average.
