US: Big Lots to accept Bed Bath & Beyond coupons - Will the offer click with the latter’s shoppers?

American furniture and home décor retailer Big Lots has announced it will now accept Bed Bath & Beyond coupons and exchange them for 20% off on entire purchases worth $50 or more. Bed Bath & Beyond had earlier announced that its stores would no longer accept coupons, in light of the retailer filing for bankruptcy and winding down operations nationwide.

How popular is Bed Bath & Beyond among Big Lots’ current customers?

According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - 13% of Bed Bath & Beyond customers have shopped from Big Lots in the past three months.

Weeks after filing for bankruptcy, Bed Bath & Beyond has also kick started its liquidation sale.

We look at YouGov data to see what Bed Bath & Beyond’s current customers feel about using sales, coupons and deals in general.

Profiles data suggests that current Bed Bath & Beyond customers are more likely than the general US population to agree with the statement that “whenever I shop I make sure I utilize all sales, coupons and deals” (76% vs. 70%). On the other hand, 14% of the retailer’s customers and 18% of the general population disagree with the statement.
