British supermarket chain, Tesco, has completed its programme of installing electric vehicle (EV) charging points at 600 of its stores. The grocer’s Kirkwall outlet in Scotland has become the 600th store in the country to be installed with EV charging points, finishing the efforts of an initiative that launched in 2019.
But what are the supermarket preferences of Britons who would consider owning an electric vehicle?
According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioural consumer metrics - an almost equal proportion of this group tends to shop at Aldi (50%) and Tesco (49%). Asda (41%), Sainsbury’s (36%) and Lidl (33%) are other supermarkets that are popular with this potential EV audience.
When it comes to factors considered important when choosing a supermarket for grocery shopping, Britons who would consider owning an EV favour cheap prices the most (25%) and so do 26% of Britons in general. Another 17% of respondents and 13% of the general British population cite product quality. One in 10 potential EV owners (10%), along with 18% of the general British population, consider store location as the most important factor when selecting grocers.
