GB: Currys expands online store for pre-owned items - What do people think of second-hand shopping?

British electronics retailer, Currys, has now dedicated a portion of its website to offer refurbished technology, following a trial conducted in November 2022 which reportedly spurred sales. With its expanded online store, electronic items graded as being in ‘very good’, ‘fair’ and ‘excellent’ conditions will also be available. Previously, the brand offered its pre-owned products via its ‘Currys Clearance’ eBay store.

What do Currys’ current customers think of purchasing second-hand goods?

According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - Currys' customers are more likely (35%) than the general Great Britain (GB) population (30%) to agree with the statement that they “prefer to buy things second hand rather than new.”

While nearly half (46%) of the general population disagrees with the statement, that they “prefer buying things second hand rather than new”, a lesser number of Currys shoppers (41%) disagree with the statement.
