US: JetBlue partners with Peacock – Is the service popular among current or future flyers?

JetBlue has announced Peacock as its streaming partner. Beginning Spring 2023, flyers will be able to stream Peacock’s full offerings – ranging from original service and live sports, to movies, shows and news – on their seatback screens as well as their own devices. Similarly, members of the airline’s TrueBlue loyalty program will enjoy special offers and promotions on Peacock subscriptions.

On the ground, which streaming services do JetBlue’s customers typically opt for?

According to YouGov Profiles - which covers demographic, psychographic, attitudinal and behavioral consumer metrics - Netflix is the top choice (53%) for current customers of JetBlue or respondents who would consider using the airline. Amazon Prime Video ranks second at 52%, with Hulu (30%), Disney+ (26%) and HBO Max (26%) completing the top five list.

JetBlue’s current customers or those who would use the airline (18%) have subscribed to Peacock in the last 12 months.

Along with screens on every seatback, the New York-based airline also offers free wi-fi to all its passengers - even those flying economy. Dubbed ‘Fly-Fi', JetBlue passengers can stay connected from gate to gate on their wi-fi enabled devices.

While JetBlue’s customers or those that would consider flying with the airline currently have Peacock lower on their preference list, the service being the in-flight entertainment on offer could change some minds.
