July Canada Advertisers of the Month – Amazon, Winners, and Coca-Cola
Amazon, Winners, and Coca-Cola are the top three Advertisers of the Month in Canada for the month of July. According to YouGov BrandIndex data, which tracks brand perception on a daily basis, these three brands saw the highest increase in Ad Awareness- a measure of whether the public have seen an advertisement for a brand in the past two weeks.
Amazon saw a growth of 7.9 percentage points from 34.5% on 26 June to 42.4% on 20 July. Its increased visibility can likely be tied to the Prime Day event that occurred on July 12 and 13. The rise in Ad Awareness may also be partially attributed to the back-to-school campaign which focuses on how parents can use Amazon to spend less and get everything a child needs for school.
Off-price department store Winners ranked second in our July list of top improving brands for Ad Awareness. It witnessed a rise of 5.5 percentage points from 21.8% on June 26 to 27.3% on July 14. The retailer which only sells products offline recently announced its SS22 virtual preview store, allowing a view of the store through a VR headset.
Coca-Cola is the last of our top three, with Ad Awareness metrics growing by 5.4 percentage points from 30.9% on June 26 to 36.3% on July 20. The rise may be associated with the summer music campaign and global launch of Coke Studio, where artists collaborate with the company to produce music.
Methodology
YouGov BrandIndex collects data on thousands of brands every day. A brand’s Ad Awareness score is based on the question: “Which of the following consumer brands have you seen an advertisement for in the past two weeks?” Data is from surveys of adults aged 18 years from June 26 and July 25, 2022. Ad Awareness scores are based on a four-week moving average. The change in scores for each brand is calculated by taking the difference between the highest and lowest scoring days within the period.
