Indonesians’ shopping habits on consumer goods
Living in a pandemic situation for the past year has changed our behaviour and preferences toward many aspects of our life. We quickly adopted a new lifestyle, including using a face mask everywhere, staying at home almost every day, and working remotely. Inevitably, the preference for our regular groceries shopping has shifted too. YouGov's latest white paper: International FMCG/CPG Report 2021: Consumer goods in a crisis reveals that most consumers across all markets in our study have changed their shopping habits due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And Indonesia is not an exception.
74% of Indonesians have changed their shopping habits due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This rate is quite high, considering the global average is 59%. One of the notable changes is how they now regularly use online shopping/delivery services for their groceries, as a result of the crowd restriction applied by the government. 63% say they will make more use of online shopping/delivery services, and more of them choose to use delivery service (43%) rather than "click and collect" online service (15%).
We summarise the key findings for the Indonesian market from this study in an infographic, including their consumption habits of different types of products and how they like to plan their regular groceries shopping now.
