With Election Day almost upon us, voters still trust Democratic candidate Joe Biden to handle most national issues better than his opponent, according to the latest Yahoo News / YouGov poll.
The former vice president has the greatest edge over President Donald Trump when it comes to the environment, with a more than 20-point lead over his rival (53% vs. 32%).
Biden also has commanding leads when it comes to bipartisanship (46% vs. 30%), race relations (52% vs. 35%), and the coronavirus pandemic (51% vs. 37%).
By smaller margins, voters also show more confidence in Biden to handle foreign policy (48% vs. 41% for Trump), immigration (48% vs. 43%) and the supreme court (46% vs. 42%).
Voters are split between which candidate would handle the issue of crime better: 43% say Biden, 43% say Trump.
Notably, since the beginning of October, Biden has managed to close the gap between him and Trump when it comes to the economy, the main issue on which the incumbent president has rested his re-election bid. An October 2 survey showed 38% of registered voters said they thought Biden would do a good job handling the economy, while 44% thought so of Trump. This week, 44% think Biden would do a good job, just a hair under the 45% who chose Trump.

Methodology: The Yahoo News survey was conducted by YouGov using a nationally representative sample of 1,501 registered U.S. voters interviewed online from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. This sample was weighted according to gender, age, race and education based on the American Community Survey, conducted by the U.S. Bureau of the Census, as well as 2016 president vote, registration status, geographic region and news interest. Respondents were selected from YouGov’s opt-in panel to be representative of all U.S registered voters. The margin of error is approximately 2.9 percent.
