COVID-19 Global Behaviours and Attitudes: The Year in Review

For over a year, the COVID-19 pandemic has dominated all aspects of our lives. Not only has it significantly affected health, economies, and public policy worldwide – it has had a poignant and likely long-lasting impact on the way we do business with one another, how we communicate, and what we value.

Brought to you by a team of health behaviour and data experts at the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) at Imperial College London and YouGov, the COVID-19 Global Behaviours and Attitudes: The Year in Review report provides insights and trends in people’s changing behaviours related to COVID-19 across 14 markets, including:

  • How preventative measures were adhered to over time
  • How life satisfaction changed over time
  • How trust in the government’s handling of the pandemic changed over time

About IGHI:

The Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) is one of Imperial College London’s global challenge institutes, established to address some of the most important issues facing the world today. At IGHI, we use evidence-based innovation to transform health for all and are working towards a future where healthcare is better, safer and more equitable across the globe.

About the project:

IGHI experts partnered with YouGov to launch a survey across 29 countries, areas and territories to understand people’s changing behaviours and attitudes in relation to the pandemic.

This survey, which has been running on a weekly/bi-weekly basis since the beginning of April 2020, has shed light on the complexity of changing behaviours related to the pandemic over time. It has also allowed us to better understand differences across geographies and demographics, which have been vital to inform national and international policy development.

The report highlights findings from a selection of survey questions for a subset of 14 countries.
